Three brand new houses in Calala will change the lives of nine soon-to-be residents after Enlarge Living and Brighter Access joined forces.
Each property will home three residents with varying disabilities, and will also cater for a 24/7 in-house support worker.
The first two houses will see the new residents move in next Tuesday, while Saturday will see the doors open to the public for a grand opening day.
The first house will cater exclusively for people in wheelchairs, with hoists and an ensuite in every bedroom, large doorways and halls, and a tailor made kitchen and laundry to name but a few of the features.
The second house has been tailor built for people with intellectual disabilities, while the third house, which construction will begin on next week, will be built to the highest specifications of all three according to Brighter Access’ accommodation manager Lisa Fulton.

Enlarge Living sees investors pay for the construction of the specialist disability housing all over the state, with investors recouping their investment through the rent taken out of occupants NDIS payments, while Brighter Access provide the staff.
“I have been working in the industry for many years and have never seen anything like this being offered to people with disabilities,” Ms Fulton said.
“There is a large gap in disability living, so we are really hoping to start bridging that gap with houses like these.”
While in some ways it is a case of first in best dressed, Brighter Access do put applicants through a thorough process that ensures the three people moving in together can have fully functional and sustainable relationships into the future.
Ms Fulton said that while the houses will offer independence and a sense of freedom to the residents moving in, they will also benefit some of the families that until now have been full time carers.
“A lot of people have never had the opportunity to live somewhere like this,” she said.
“It also allows parents to have some time to themselves after years of being full time carers.”
The open house will be held at 124 Warrah Road Calala from 11am until 2pm Saturday.
