It was just a year ago that three Tamworth men were enjoying lunch and making plans to fix the world.
Out of the ashes of crazy ideas arose one vision that just wouldn’t go away – a Christian Men’s Club, a place where men can come together in unity, to share their faith with one another.
Even a place where men who don’t normally go to church could come and feel comfortable.
It would not be run by any one church. In fact the committee would be deliberately chosen to represent all churches.

It would meet once every two months at a place that served a really good dinner – like Gregory’s. It would feature a guest speaker who had a love for Jesus and a good story to tell – like John Anderson.
If there is to be any hope for democracy, we have to find people we can trust.

So it was that Gregory’s was packed for the September meeting of the Tamworth Christian Men’s Club as former deputy prime minister and Mullaley farmer, John Anderson, shared his past walk with Jesus and his current take on where Australia is heading.
“Our biggest problem,” he said, “is that we are struggling with a collapse in trust. We have lost our trust in politicians, in media, in the financial sector; we’ve even lost our trust in churches.
“If there is to be any hope for democracy, we have to find people we can trust.
“The good news is that there is a rising generation that has seen through the political correctness that has been pushed on them and are looking for coherent answers. They would like to think that there is hope ahead, that there is someone who cares.”
John suggested that they will find these things when they find an authentic father figure – one who will be always there, loving unconditionally and telling them they are special.
On December 14, they’ll do it all again. This time with Phil Wiedemann who has an amazing story to tell of things that God is birthing in the people of Inverell.
