After a four-goal loss against Quirindi, Gunnedah bounced back with a win against Armidale before putting it all together to beat Quirindi 25-18 in the final.
Team coach Nerieda Ewington said she was very proud of her charges.
“We played in two other carnivals in the lead up to this past weekend and we knew Quirindi would be the team to beat,” Ewington said.
“To be honest we didn’t really turn up in the first two games, we made some silly mistakes and I think moving from an outdoor court may have had a bit to do with it.
“They are a pretty causal group of girls and after getting through that second game something just clicked in the final and we came away with the win which was fantastic.
“We celebrated pretty well afterwards that’s for sure.”

Ewington said every member put in a great effort in the final with the team’s shooters leading the way.
“I could honestly praise everyone of the girls,” she said.
“But, I think some of our better players were Emma Rose, Mikaela Aldridge and Alex Jones who did a great job shooting for us, and Keira Novely who was relentless in defence in all three games.”
Gunnedah’s division one team was unsuccessful in its title bid, going down at the hands of the undefeated Quirindi 42-32 in the final.
The focus will now turn to the Gunnedah Netball Association finals series.
