
UPDATE: TRIBUTES are flowing for a 15-year-old Walcha boy who died following a motorbike accident on Sunday.
Social media was flooded with condolences and support for the boy’s family and friends as the tight-knit community came to terms with the news.
One person described the teenager as “a brother to us all”.
The Leader has chosen not to name him after the shock accident which has rocked locals.
Police said the boy was riding a motorbike with friends when the accident happened.
Emergency services were called to the scene in bushland next to the Oxley Highway in Walcha just before 5.15pm on Sunday.
The teen was treated at the scene by paramedics and was rushed to hospital, but despite their efforts, he died en-route.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter from Tamworth was also tasked but was called off.
Oxley police attended the scene and examined the area and will now prepare a report for the coroner on the incident.
