This year, Ms Squires said the festival was hoping to attract more women to the starting line.

“Our numbers have been more weighty on the male side in previous years,” she said.
“We were trying to boost numbers in terms of encouraging women and letting them know it is totally doable.”
The festival includes four, five, 10 and 21 kilometres races, with about 70 people already signed-up for the half marathon.
Ms Squires said a spike in demand saw a new age category added to the races.
“As a result of that we’ve introduced a new 70s-plus age category,” she said.
Online registration closes on Thursday, but people will be able to sign-up for a race on the day.
