There will be a range of speakers, including CCAG chair Susie Lyle, Kamilaroi elder Neville Sampson and Lock the Gate’s George Woods, who will speak on both the CSG exploration licences over the plains and the proposed Shenhua mine.
A more global view of energy and coal will be provided by IEEFA director Tim Buckley.
His analysis of the coal industry also gives insight into competing renewable energies, what that may mean for local coal and CSG projects.
“We are very excited to have someone as knowledgeable and well researched as Tim,” SOS Liverpool Plains president Kirrily Blomfield said.
“Anyone that has heard him present before will know what an in-depth understanding Tim has of the broader energy market and its fantastic how he relates this practically to proposed local projects.”
The event will finish with a screening of The Sacrifice Zone, a locally produced film about the planned NSW gas fields and the people working to stop them.
The event kicks of at 12pm, at Breeza Hall.
