
NEW England MP Barnaby Joyce was due to return to parliamentary duties this week, however will remain on personal leave after the passing of his brother Tim Joyce.
Mr Joyce was due back to Canberra this week, after his two weeks of sick leave finished on June 15.
However, The Leader understands he will take personal leave, following the death of his younger brother over the weekend.
The 42-year-old was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney on Friday.
He had been battling terminal cancer.
Mr Joyce pulled out of the NSW Nationals state conference in Cowra over the weekend to be with his brother.
Sydney radio host Alan Jones, who was due to interview Mr Joyce about drought relief on Friday, shared a text Mr Joyce sent him following his brother’s death.
“He said of his brother Tim, ‘he looked at the ceiling and said thank you God for giving me the experience of life. Then he faded out, and we said the rosary around him. He was such an innocent, loving boy.’”
