The undefeated, table-topping Roosters led 32-6 at half time and never relented in a 15-try demolition. Fullback Mitch Doring scored five tries in a brilliant display whilst hooker Ryan Martin crossed for three and centre Mitch Denning and winger Anthony “Bluey” Smith posted doubles.
Roosters halfback and captain Sam Taylor also crossed for a try while kicking 10 goals in a 24-point haul that yielded him the three best and fairest points.
“The two halves were outstanding,” Roosters coach Geoff Sharpe said of Taylor and five-eighth Jordan Sharpe, his son.
“Mitch Doring was outstanding and was in everything and Mitch Denning, playing against his old club, was a handful all day out on the edge.”
He added: “Narrabri pushed us hard early and we came up with a few errors. Ryan scored two of his tries in the first half and we only led 12-6 at one stage.”
Sharpe injected Shane Salvador into the game after 20 minutes. And Salvador, returning from an injury layoff, sparked the Roosters.
“He had a real strong 20 minutes,” Sharpe said. “Shane got us on the front foot with four or five real good hit-ups and made some breaks on the edge.”
