Towns throughout the New England and North West regions paused to remember on Wednesday, when Anzac services took place from Dawn until lunchtime.
Community members listened to the Last Post, took a moment’s silence and responded ‘Lest We Forget’ to the ode throughout Wednesday morning.
Services took place in Tamworth, Gunnedah, Armidale, Walcha, Uralla, Tenterfield, Glen Innes, Inverell, Moree, Goondiwindi and all the towns and suburbs in between.
After the services and commemorations many went to the local watering hole to indulge in a game of ‘Two-Up.’
The game is only legally allowed to be played three days a year, including Anzac Day.
