TAMWORTH Regional Council has backed a $42 million proposal for a new aged care facility in Moore Creek.
The development would include 57 self-contained units for seniors and a 62-room, two-storey residential care facility, including a dementia wing, a community centre and a bowling green.
Juanita Wilson welcomed the development and said “aged care was one of the areas there will a lot of pressure on” in coming years, but raised concern about the flood-prone site.

Russell Webb said the facility would be an economic fillip for the town with the added employment it would bring.
“I'd rather it be here than Narrabri or Gunnedah or Armidale,” he said.
“The reason they are coming here is because Tamworth has so much to offer.”
The proposal will go before the Joint Regional Planning Panel next month for the final tick of approval.
