HORDES of hungry humans will make their way to Anzac Park next month, with the much-loved long lunch back on the menu, by popular demand.
While its return heralds the upcoming Taste Tamworth festival, a range of new events have been brewed-up for the nine-day foodie-fiesta.
After a year on ice, the Long Lunch in Anzac Park on April 15 returns “by popular demand”, according to organisers, with local chefs preparing a feast of regional produce.

The festival will launch with a new event on April 6, Flavours on Fitzroy, which will include food stalls, vans and live entertainment in the recently redeveloped CBD street.
Destination Tamworth marketing officer Erin Carroll said the new space could be a boon for local events.
“It enables us to showcase events in a different way,” Mrs Carroll said.
“The intention is to use that space throughout the year for a variety of events.”
The nine day festival will also include a high tea at the Botanic Gardens, for the first time, while some local eateries will roll-out themed menus for the festival.
“This is an exciting new event – we are aiming to create a sophisticated afternoon with sweet and savoury foods, tea and coffee and live entertainment,” council’s manager of events Barry Harley said.
“The botanic gardens is the ideal venue for what we aim to be quite a special addition to Taste.”
The foodie-fest’s mainstay events, including Taste in the Park and the Farm Gate Trail will be back in 2018 too.
The Taste Tamworth festival includes a range of food-related events around the Region such as two Teddy Bear’s Picnics (in conjunction with the Happy Birthday Play School exhibition at Tamworth Regional Gallery) markets, produce swap, special dinners at local restaurants and the sommeliers of comedy The Wine Bluffs appearing at Tamworth Town Hall.
