THEY are the local husband-and-wife duo that are drawing big crowds at this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Shelley and Lawrie Minson’s love of rockabilly has seen festival-goers follow them in droves and there’s no signs of it slowing down as the event enters its final days.
The couple are known internationally for their unique style and on-stage chemistry, which has seen them perform in Las Vegas,Nevada.
Lawrie is a golden guitar winner, while Shelley is flying high off the release of her debut album Rockability.
You can catch them next up at the Locomotive Hotel on Wednesday from 3.30pm in a not to miss show.
“We’ve got a busy festival and it’s the first festival I’ve got my debut album Rockability out,” she said.
“There’s been a lot of regular friendly faces we have seen popping up already.
“Really, our version of rockabilly is pretty much traditional country, there’s a lot of artists whose songs we sing from the 1950s.
“They kind of all cross over really well into country and rockabilly.”
Lawrie said Rockabilly embraced the culture of the 1950s that came with the music.
“There’s the cars, there’s the girls that dress up and the dancing,” he said.
“It really has a lot to offer because of the cultural connection with that era. However, it’s still got its roots in country music so we really feel like we are still able to be very much apart of the Australian Country Music scene.”
