It’s part of the education program in Tamworth Regional Council’s management plan for the bats which was endorsed in February, this year.
The most recent estimate has the Tamworth flying fox colony at about 140,000, swelling by 28 per cent since May.
Council completed its initial works creating a 50 metre buffer-zone on a number of properties near King George V Ave, cutting down non-native trees.
Council doesn’t have any further approved works, but it is able to carry out normal operations such tree pruning and mowing.
New signage will be installed at either end of the riverside walk near Bicentennial Park and on King George V Ave.
