The first game of a double header at No.1 Oval, the Kangaroos ran out 26.16-172 to 4.10-34 winners.
Both sides were a bit light on. Kangaroos coach Ben Mitchell was scrounging around for players on Friday night, and had to “con” about six players that don’t usually play into having a run.
Happy to get the four points, the best thing about the win for Mitchell was they were consistent over the four quarters.
It’s something they have struggled with this season.
“It was good to put four quality quarters together,” he said.
They kicked 50 points or more three of the four quarters, Warwick Gilmour leading the way with six goals.
Mitchell and Carl Frazier backed him up with four, while Mathew Lather (two), Max Beinke and Matthew Trainor kicked the Suns’ four goals.
