The association will field a side out of Armidale and one out of Tamworth in the inaugural competition, which will be held at Speers Point on September 23 and 24.
They’ll join 18 other club teams from across northern NSW in what will be the first time many of them have competed against each other in sanctioned competition.
The establishment of the Women’s State Cup was a strategic initiative for NNSWF in the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan, and is seen as a great showcase for women’s football.
The competition is a possible stepping stone for a National Women’s FFA Cup as the states move to align their Premier Women’s Competition with the National Premier Leagues (NPL) format.
Armidale and Tamworth will learn their opponents later this month when the official draw is conducted at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.
