He’s about to release his third album From The Bottom of A Well on August 4 with local fans in for a real treat.
Butcher will perform at the City Sider Motel on Saturday, July 8 from 6pm and as part of Allison Forbes’ Birthday Bash at The Albert Hotel on Sunday, July 9 from 2pm.
“I can’t wait,” Butcher said.
“The best part about Tamworth in January is getting to catch up with everyone and now I’m sneaking back mid-year to do it again.
“I’ll be at Allison’s Birthday Bash Bonanza on Sunday, it’s a whole group of friends getting together from all over the country and having a bit of a jam and a party.
“It should be fun.”
Butcher has been touring with The Weeping Willows which he says has been a great experience.
The latest album, he’s described as a “concept album” that was born after co-writing in between Nashville and Australia.
”I sat down and picked 10 or 11 of the best songs I had at the time and I thought, this was it.
“They’re all coming from a similar place.
“The title of the album is me creating something from a bleak beginning and turning it into something unlikely.
“My grandfather was raised in a very poor family, and from where he began he was still able to create a life for himself and raise my dad and a family.
“I see it as an inspiration and it’s the reason I dedicated the album to my grandfather.”
Butcher said with his third album release imminent, he’s had some learning experiences along the way.
“The most important things I’ve picked up on were what not to do,” he said.
“I’ve made a few mistakes and I’ve put it all down to learning experiences.
“Being the third time in the studio, I’ve been a little more prepared and aware of what needed to happen.”
The new album was recorded in Sydney with award winning producer Matt Fell.
It encompasses Butcher’s take on Americana music, a blending of genres, to create a sound that is uniquely his.
The album features his first single, Well Dressed Man.
