Paired with phenomenal weather, the event was a perfect way to kick off the Golden Triangle.
About 800 people from across the district attended the first race day of three.
Moree Picnic Races president Sally Glynn said each race had strong nominations.
“The Golden Triangle is all about promoting the heart of bush racing in Moree, Mallawa and Talmoi.”
Each race day is split two weeks apart and encourages jockeys and trainers to nominate for all three events, to fill and strengthen all fields.
Saturday saw one local win for trainer Peter Sinclair in race six.
Jockey Ricky Blewitt rode Track Flash, a five-year-old Bay Gelding, first across the line.
Son, and fellow Moree trainer Nathan Sinclair saw success in the same race.
Our Boy Danny, a seven-year-old bay gelding trained by Nathan, finished third.
Peter and Blewitt had another good run in race four with My Dubleo Boy placing second.
Glynn said Fashions on the Field was hotly contested and the evening function was well entertained by Red Tie, an eight-piece corporate band, and well catered by Relish.
“All in all, this was a very successful race day considering its planting and picking time,” she said.
