It’s National Walk Safely To School Day, with the Australia-wide event on a mission to promote health and well-being among our local youth, along with youth safety and respect for the environment.
Aims of the national event include; arming kids with information about the health benefits of walking, ensuring kids up to 10 years old hold an adult’s hand when crossing the road, promoting the use of public transport and reducing traffic congestion.
Primary school children and their carers are encouraged to walk, or ride safely to school.
The community event is now in its 18th year.
