For starters, they’re beautiful! The Sunset Maples turn a brilliant shade of red in the autumn.
One particular Maple is called the Budget Tree and, according to the Parliament House website, is usually in full autumn attire when the Treasury stands beneath it to hold the post-Budget press conference.
The Canberra Times reported in 2014 that Canberra’s seasonal transition from autumn to winter had led many Canberrans to declare this the best week to visit Canberra.
