Born and bred in Tamworth with Portuguese heritage, Kate Figueira has never been short on soul or sass, and has been singing, playing and writing music since the day she could walk.
‘The local with the lungs’ has toured the world, and even opened a live music based cafe in Southern Portugal’s Lagos, before returning to Australia and Tamworth, where her passion continues.
She is joined on stage by Scott Mcilveen, who also shares a top musical pedigree that has seen him work with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Bruce Springsteen and The Midnight Oils.
These days Mr Mcilveen is a partner in the Tamworth based Full Force Media, who manage some big names in the Australian music scene.
While Mr Mcilveen found himself playing guitar for Gemma Kirby and alongside Jimmy Craz during this years Country Music Festival, it is that same festival that SK8 found their feet and got the ball well and truly rolling.
The duo regularly raise the roof at the Albert Hotel, as well as booking plenty of other public and private gigs around the region with their unique sound.
“We take a lot of time to restructure acoustic covers – similar to Like a Virgin on Triple J, although we keep the absolute classics exactly the same,” Ms Figueira said.
The duo will be on stage at the April 30 event from 10am to 3pm, playing over 60 songs.
