POLICE are calling for information on the “cowardly theft” of sentimental items from a Werris Creek church.

Between 10.30pm Tuesday and 8.30am Wednesday, thieves broke into the St Thomas More Parish Church.
The thieves attempted to force a side door, damaging it in the process, before they smashed a window and entered the church.
The thieves then stole numerous sterling silver plates, cups, goblets and ornaments.
A goblet of great sentimental value to the church was also stolen.
Police attended and are continuing their investigations.
