The Young Business Person Mentoring Program is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 35 looking to further develop their business skills, and Tuesday night saw all eight new mentees meet their mentors for the first time.
Australian Training and Consulting (ATAC) director Samantha Crebert was also on hand to give more insight into what the training program will involve.
Mentee Carly VanDelft hopes that the program will not only further her business career but also open up new networks after recently moving to Tamworth from Wagga in her role at the St George Bank.
“I moved to Tamworth for family but saw this program as a great opportunity for me,” Ms VanDelft said.
“Not only to learn a lot but also to meet new people – I am really keen to learn how to communicate better in a business sense and I am very interested in the marketing subjects.”
The banking worker has been matched with Jarrad Smith, who joined as a mentor after he was himself a mentee in 2015.
He said his biggest tip was to always be open to learning.
“Whether it be through reading or drawing on experience from other people, expanding your range of influences is truly beneficial.”
The program involves six face to face sessions, as well as training units and assessments from February through to July.
