Young Years is a song closer to Jensen’s heart.
She said it strikes to the core of her life in her late teens and early twenties when she endured a life controlled and ultimately dominated by an abusive partner.
Years on and in a loving and respectful relationship she said she made the heart-wrenching decision to share her journey through song.
"Domestic violence and abuse is an issue bigger than I think many of us understand. I know that as a strong and Independent woman, if I can get caught up in an abusive relationship then anyone can,” she said.
“That concept is really scary to me. When you realise that one woman a week is killed as a result of domestic violence, and it is the number one cause of homelessness, you just have to pay attention. These numbers are terrifying and I felt compelled to do something about it.”
After winning the Southern Stars Award for Female Rising Star recently at the Mildura Country Music Festival, Jensen is going from strength to strength. Now the days are counting down to her EP release with the powerful single 'Young Years' available to buy this Friday November 2. The music video will be released at 5PM on Jensen's Facebook page.
The release follows a great week for Jensen who alongside Kirsty Lee Akers performed a sold out show at Sydney’s iconic venue, The Basement at the weekend.
