The delegation organised by Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) manager Mike Rowland and Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson travelled to Sydney in an effort to reduce injuries and avoid tragedies for people who work around horses.
“We have a number of large equine groups in the Tamworth electorate with a great deal of experience and it made good sense to me to have them around the table,” Mr Anderson said.
“The horse industry needs to meet its WHS obligation whilst not impeding on the ability of the industry to operate practically.
“SafeWork NSW gained valuable feedback and important insights into the practical application of the draft code and how that may affect event organisers and industry participants alike.”
The draft code is due out later this year.
