Former Tamworth Regional Council cultural services manager Meg Larkin, Weswal Gallery co-owner Sandra Mc- Mahon and Tamworth Regional Gallery director Bridget Guthrie are extremely excited to be launching ADFAS Tamworth Region at 6pm on Friday, at the Capitol Theatre.
The Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies is a national, not-for-profit organisation that’s been operating in Australia for more than 20 years.
It provides audiences with access to a range of national and international speakers possessing a wealth of know- ledge in a variety of areas, delivered in informative lectures on numerous topics.
Membership of ADFAS Tamworth Region is open to anyone with an interest in history and heritage, culture and design, archaeology and architecture, arts and social events.
“If you have an interest in the history of garden design, the origins of blue-and-white pottery, what happens behind the scenes of the opera or what the difference is between a daguerreotype or digital image, you really should come along to the launch,” Ms Larkin said.
“We have an action-packed program of lectures and events and there will be some people from ADFAS there to discuss the benefits of joining such an organisation.
“We’ll take a better look at the program and answer any questions people may have over a glass of wine.”
Ms Larkin said being able to tap into the extensive ADFAS network meant the city could look forward to some highly entertaining guest speakers.
“All membership proceeds go towards covering the costs of venue hire and speaker fees,” Ms Larkin said.
“The launch has been devised as a social event, so join us for a drink and some nibbles and find out how you can benefit from being a member of ADFAS Tamworth Region.”
For details or to join before the launch, email adfas.tamworth@gmail.com or call Ms Larkin on 0407 255 821.
Plans are in place to hold meetings on the third Friday of each month at the Capitol Theatre.
