Roo Arcus, who recorded just outside of Nashville with Jerry Salley in the producer's chair, said he looked forward to launching the new album in Tamworth tonight.
Recording there meant there were plenty of the top sessions musicians appearing on the album including Brent Mason on guitar, Tim Crouch on fiddle, Mike Johnson on steel and Kevin Grant on bass.
Arcus said recording Cowboys and Sunsets was "just a bunch of fun".
"It was very laid back and quite a relaxing place to do it," he said.
"It was really impressive because we recorded it in less than 12 hours then did all the vocal stuff."
The official album launch is on tonight at The Family Hotel and Arcus said he felt it would get a good reception.
"When I released (the last album) This Here Cowboy, at that point I wasn't sure how people were going to take it and it didn't faze me," he said.
"Now that that was so well-received and more successful than we could have hoped for, I'm feeling really confident about this new album because it's pretty much a continuation of that album. I know who I am, what I am about and my music is going to stay that way."
Arcus said he loved Tamworth because there was so much going on and he wanted to keep growing his number of fans.
"It's a real trek, it's a real adventure," he said.
"I want to work hard to get around to see everyone."
