The Swisse Colour Run has seen millions of participants from across the globe lace up their joggers and run for the fun of it while getting splashed with lashes of colour.
The run has already hit Australia and has made its mark on our coastal cities, but is yet to hit a regional centre.
In a bid to bring the Colour Run to Tamworth, local woman Ashleigh Cramp has set up a Facebook page to harness the support of locals and running enthusiasts.
With an aim of 7000 likes to the page - it had already hit nearly 2000 likes just a couple of days after it was created.
“The runs all draw crowds between 7000 and 20,000 people and I’m aiming for at least 7000 for them (the organisers) to take us seriously,” Mrs Cramp told The Leader.
“Once I get enough people liking the page I can approach them again and ask if they’d consider coming out to Tamworth.”
Mrs Cramp says she believed the Colour Run would be embraced by locals, even if they didn’t feel all that athletic.
“The colour run is not aimed at being athletic, there are no obstacles and you don’t have to be relatively fit to do it,” Mrs Cramp said.
“You can walk it, anyone can go in it and it’s suitable for all ages and fitness levels - it’s aimed at just really having fun.
“I think because of the interest shown in the mud runs as well, it just goes to show Tamworth people are keen to get out and participate in things like this and they’re just waiting for the opportunity.
“We need to bring more things like this to town for people to get amongst it.”
