Big, strong handshakes and broad smiles were commonplace at Loomberah on Saturday morning as countless mini-reunions took place among those who flocked to the Loomberah hall in preparation for Saturday afternoon’s launch of the community’s history book.
Big, strong handshakes and broad smiles were commonplace at Loomberah on Saturday morning as countless mini-reunions took place among those who flocked to the Loomberah hall in preparation for Saturday afternoon’s launch of the community’s history book.
Compiled by a committee, much of the work on the book was completed by Karlie Tongue, one of the founding daughters of the area, whose roots stretch right back to the original settlers – the Collison and Ponto families.
Prior to the 2pm book launch, guests were treated to bus tours of the area, visiting historic sites and properties of interest.
It summed up the essence of country life – and those families who continue to farm the land their forefathers first toiled over.
On Sunday, St Luke’s Church at Loomberah celebrated its 50th anniversary, with a special service conducted by Bishop Rick Lewers.
