Penny Cook is probably best known for her role as Penny, the vet, on the much-loved Australian series A Country Practice, but she’s also a multi-Logie winner with other starring roles in GP, The Flying Doctors and E-Street, as well as film and stage credits.
Her talents have also been employed as a TV presenter, guest speaker and spokeswoman for several prominent Australian charities.
As a master of ceremonies, she has officiated at events for the likes of former US president Bill Clinton, Prince Charles and former prime minister John Howard.
Liverpool Plains Shire councillor Mary Roberts said it was an honour to have such a prominent Australian as an ambassador, where one of her major roles will be to present the shire’s Australia Day awards on January 26 at the Royal Theatre from 10.30am.
Cr Roberts said nominations were still open across the seven categories, which include Citizen of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year.
Nomination forms are available from the council chambers or online at www.lpsc.nsw.gov.au
