This is the duo's second CMC award. They won their first for CMC New Oz Artist in 2011.
"We've got one each now so Drew gets this one," Troy Kemp said.
"Winning gives us more exposure."
Drew McAlister said award wins boost their profile as a band.
Another thing that's boosting their profile is the massive Ford F650 Bohemoth truck that carries their stickers again as its parked at Hope Estate for the festival in Pokolbin.
"It's like a roving billboard," Drew said.
The year ahead will be a big one for the country blokes as they head to Nashville in April to write songs and then return to Music City USA in July to record their third album.
"We're writing hard at the moment," Troy said.
"This album will be all co-written together like our first one was."
Drew said they were currently writing poetry and then putting music to it.
"The whole thing about a great country song is the lyrics, so doing it this way is a little tricky, but it works. It's all about constructing the story."
Drew said the core themes that they loved writing about wouldn't change, but their sound was going to be "epic" on their next offering.
"We want to write songs that appeal to people, no matter what country they're in," he said.
Troy said they would source a big name US producer for the project.
He said they would also be building up their social media and online presence throughout the year.
They hit the main stage tonight ((sat)) in place of Billy Ray Cyrus who couldn't travel due to medical advice.
