The Moree Visitor Information Centre won the Visitor Information and Services Award at last November’s 2012 NSW Tourism Awards – which automatically springboarded it into the national awards.
Moree Visitor Information Centre manager Tammy Elburne and staff members Jaymie McDonald and Ashley McDonald, and tourist information centre board member Matt Hayes, will be travelling to the ceremony at Princes Wharf 1 in the Hobart suburb of Salamanca.
Cr Humphries is also the chairwoman of Moree Tourism.
“No matter how we go, it is such a privilege to be representing NSW,” Cr Humphries told The Leader.
She said the town had been runner-up several times in the NSW awards but this was the first time it had taken out a state tourism honour.
“I’m extremely excited,” Cr Humphries said.
“I’m so proud of the girls, the team that they are.”
She said the hard work put in by the team had not been an overnight thing but a sustained effort by all over a long time.
