Robert Wayne Phillips, 37, faced Tamworth Local Court yesterday charged with the two offences.
A teenaged accomplice will be cautioned under the Young Offenders Act.
Police were called to an address in Suzanne St just after noon on Wednesday, after reports a man and a teenager were involved in a verbal and physical altercation with neighbouring residents.
Several hours later, police were called to the same address after the same two males allegedly used rocks to smash a house’s and cars’ windows.
The men were arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where they were charged with assault and malicious damage.
Phillips was given conditional bail and will appear at Tamworth Local Court on February 18.
