And The Leader is looking for the best of the best Christmas light displays around the region from Armidale to Inverell and Gunnedah to Tamworth.
We’re hoping to compile a list of the top home and business displays for a handy online and print guide for those who like a good stickybeak before Santa arrives.
In Tamworth, Cunningham St residents Robyn and Dennis Daley said they were used to cars slowing to a crawl outside their home – nearly every house in the street is illuminated with lights and ornaments galore.
“We just love it. We get so many cars every night with kids hanging out the window and singing out ‘Merry Christmas’ at us,” Mrs Daley said.
The street is so popular it won the Origin Energy Christmas lights competition last year, and they’re obviously keen to protect their reputation this year.
“They’re all beautiful, but there is always one better than the others, but I can’t say which one, “ Mrs Daley said diplomatically.
“We play music and get right into the spirit. We do it for our grandkids and for a bit of Christmas fun.”
While Origin is not conducting the competition this year, Tamworth radio station 92.9 has jumped on board with its own competition, with the winner expected to be announced today.
If you think your home can compete, send an email with your address and high-quality jpeg image to kitty.hill@fairfaxmedia.com.au
The best will feature in a gallery on The Leader website and in a print
edition before Christmas.
