“THANK you Tim Martin,” was Cathy Brennan’s victory call after Metric Mile outstayed his rivals to win Saturday’s Colterlec Benchmark 55 Handicap (2050m) for his Walcha trainer and syndicate at Gunnedah.

Brennan trains the six-year-old chestnut gelding for a Walcha syndicate of 13, Blockout Syndicate, of which her husband Wayne is one.
“He won for Timmie at Goulburn before we got him,” Wayne Brennan said.
“Cath was getting Adventure Roma ready for Walcha (Cup Carnival) but he snapped his leg.
“So Timmie (Sydney trainer Tim Martin) sent Metric Mile up to Cathy and said she could have him.”
Travis Wolfgram showed why he is an emerging talent when he won with the big, strong gelding.
“He did it a bit easier today,” the apprentice told some of the Blockout Syndicate.
“I wanted to keep him up there today and not let him get shuffled back.”
At his previous start he’d made up a lot of ground to run third to Winning Arena at Tamworth in a 2100m benchmark 60 handicap.
On Saturday he beat Nachtanz’s Secret by a length with Brooklyn Lad a nose away third.
“Thankyou Timmie Martin,” Cathy Brennan said before entering the swabbing box.
“That’s four he’s won for us now.
“Timmie sent him up after Adventure Roma broke his leg.
“And he’s also run a lot of good races for us.
“Just four or five lengths off them running seventh, runs like that.
“But you won’t get a kinder horse to ride. He’s such a gent.”
She said his previous start was a good tip into Saturday’s victory.
It was Brennan’s first winner of the new HNWRA season while young apprentice Travis Wolfgram has now ridden three winners in the HNWRA this season since joining Sue Grills’s Tamworth stable last month.
He also piloted Beauzel to victory at Coffs Harbour for Grills last Friday.
HNWRA attention now turns to Cessnock and tomorrow’s Wine Country Race Club as well as next Monday’s Armidale Jockey Club meeting.
Armidale has seven races programmed on the TAB meeting, with nominations closing at 11am tomorrow.
