It's the first year Farrer's First XV has played in the Statewide tournament although it has also entered a side in the Yeates Shield, a Statewide country schools competition, which it has won for the past two years.
Farrer coach Matt Winslade said it was a logical step to enter the more prestigious Waratah Shield.
"Because of the success we had in the Yeates Shield, we thought we'd try our luck in this competition and see how we go.
"It starts off very similar to the Yeates Shield but at the elite end it gets a lot tougher with all the Sydney schools – Randwick Boys High and those kind of schools.
"We've got so many kids that are keen on rugby at Farrer that we've entered one team in the Waratah Shield and another in the Yeates Shield so we can get as many kids involved as possible."
Farrer defeated Peel High in their last clash after receiving a forfeit from Glen Innes High.
Winslade said Farrer's backs were their strength.
"Which is good because we think that Moree is going to have a very fast, slick sort of backline," Winslade said.
"We've want our forwards to get over the Moree pack and let our backline have as much of a run as possible.
Farrer's backline features inside centre Scott McKenzie who was recently selected in the NSW CHS Firsts.
Outside centre Luke Palmer is also a strong finisher.
"And Andrew Beer is an excellent fly-half. He directs play well for us," Winslade said.
Winslade said his back-row of Aaron Wiegold, Nick Hollingsworth and Daniel Kelly had the ability to dominate.
"They are good around the paddock. Nick Hollingsworth is excellent on the ball," Winslade said.
"And Aaron Wiegold has got a lot of energy."
Lock Clayton Rigby will be called on to win plenty of ball in the lineouts.
