In the middle of the night a car stalled on a suburban street when a 16-year-old boy approached with a knife, a court has heard.

One of the vehicle's occupants - 20-year-old Aiden Rhys Bower-Miles - was fatally stabbed after the boy allegedly got a "bit crazy".
The female driver yelled "what the f***" at the boy and a co-accused standing nearby when the car stalled in Brisbane's south at 1am in February, Brisbane Children's Court was told.
The Crown alleged the boy and co-accused then walked up to the vehicle and said: "Do you want to go? We've got knives".
Mr Bower-Miles and two other men got out of the car to "protect" the female driver, one of them holding a tyre iron, the Crown said.
Two more men allegedly arrived to help the vehicle's occupants.
Following a confrontation, Mr Bower-Miles died from a stab wound to the neck.
The boy sent a text message to his girlfriend later that day, the Crown alleges, that read: "Some Aussie c***s tried to fight (co-accused) ... so I stabbed them and go a bit crazy, two of them fell, and then someone had a bat with spikes and hit me from the back".
The boy and the co-accused have been charged with murder.
"It really is a random incident that occurs on the side of the road," crown prosecutor James Bishop said.
The boy's defence barrister said the 16-year-old and the co-accused were outside standing next to a car parked on the Underwood street "smoking a joint" when the vehicle stalled near them.
The boy raised self-defence when he spoke to police, telling them he was "rushed by a group of Aussies who pulled up in a s***box car", the court heard.
The defence barrister said the boy and the co-accused may have been confronted by up to five adult males.
He said the female driver told police after the car restarted she drove back to her nearby unit and told others "get down the road, they need help".
As a result another two men and a female arrived, he said.
The boy and co-accused were later treated at hospital with the 16-year-old suffering two head lacerations.
"So why is he out at 1am carrying a knife?" asked Judge Paul Smith, who noted that it was a school night.
The defence barrister said witnesses suggested the knife was handed to the boy by the co-accused.
He said it was important to note that the Crown also alleges that the co-accused had told a friend that he had stabbed Mr Bower-Miles.
At the boy's bail application on Wednesday, Mr Bishop said the 16-year-old had shown a willingness to attempt to pervert the course of justice in another text to his girlfriend.
"What if I get charged? I will be f***ed but (co-accused) ... will take it," it said.
Judge Smith adjourned his decision on the bail application until next week.
