Last turning into the home straight in the 1200m race, Bowman positioned Edit on the rails and he finished 1.6 lengths behind the Terry Robinson-trained race favourite Art Cadeau (Tommy Berry), who won an absorbing duel with the $1.3 million sprint's 2019 winner, the Keith Dryden-trained Handle The Truth (Nash Rawiller).
Bowman said he was "really pleased" with Edit. "Come the autumn over 1400m, he will be right in the mix against these horses," he said.
The Rodney Northam-trained Spiranac (James McDonald) was third.
Morgan's other horse in the showcase for country-trained horses, Ice In Vancouver (Tim Clark) finished 10th - 3.8 lengths behind Art Cadeau.
Ice In Vancouver, a four-year-old gelding, had led in the early stages of the race and was among the leaders in the run home, but was swallowed by the field.
In a Facebook post, Morgan said Ice In Vancouver did it "tough at the front".
He added: "A big thank you to our staff who conducted themselves so professionally in this high pressure environment on one of the biggest days on racing in NSW."
