Moore Creek's Dean Hoy first came up with the idea for the event so he could link up with people he played with "back in the day".
The likes of Ben Todd, Darren Desmid, Andrew Mahony and Adam Watson are some of the guys Hoy played with in the past and was keen to run out beside again.
"We've always thought about playing again together somewhere... but because we were all at separate clubs, we were never going to be able to do it realistically," Hoy said.
From there, the concept of a youth (under 30) v experience (30 and above) was born.
"There's always been banter between old fellas and young fellas - as there is in every sport," Hoy said.
Hoy was looking forward to taking on the best young players in the Premier Division as well as coming together as a league.
"I reckon it'll be pretty competitive, the young guys are going to be full of running but the old fellas have a bit of knowledge and possibly will be a little harder at the ball," Hoy said.
He added: "It's a great way to build culture in soccer as well. Tamworth soccer is a competitive thing and it's a good way to grow together."
The charity event - which is set to be run on October 9 - will also feature a Ladies All Stars clash and has the backing of Northern Inland Football.
"Northern Inland Football have jumped on board and they're keen to support it and grow it into an annual event," Hoy said.
Nominations for the teams close at midnight on September 12 with Hoy calling on more players, in particular females, to nominate by emailing headspace.charitysoccergame@gmail.com.
