The move was a shift in position for Kilian Apen who started playing left back.
It was during his first year playing open age in the Tamworth District Football competition.
The following year he made his Northern Inland Premier Division debut and this year he's been one of North Companions best, coach Gavin Thompson said.

Before the shift, Apen had mainly played as a goalkeeper and when a coach asked him to play left back, he found he enjoyed the position.
"You just have a lot more control," the 17-year-old said.
"And especially being left back with our team, you can push up a lot and can help out all over the field."
North Companions find themselves in third position on the ladder after double header victories last weekend.
Apen has his eyes on a grand final berth in 2021 and this weekend will serve as a good audition for that.
Northies meet the unbeaten Oxley Vale Attunga on Saturday.
Apen said the whole team need to play their part to get on top of Mushies.
"Just really shut them down when they play out from the back," Apen said when asked how Northies can beat OVA.
"That's when we really get punished. [We need] everyone helping, not just the strikers."
