The Roosters and Boars had to overcome an early storm when the weather threatened to derail the game on Saturday.
Referee Corey Dixon took both teams off the field after 10 minutes when a southerly buster lashed the ground with sideways rain and then hail.

Riding a six-match winning streak, Kooty led 6-4 at that stage - hooker Kurt Hartmann had dived over for a try and then Brett Wright retaliated for the visitors after great passes from Stan Swan and Mick Watton.
After the weather break, Rooster backrower Kyle Cochrane engineered a try for centre Ryley Mackay, enabling the home side to lead 10-4 at the halftime break.
Kyle Cochrane's physical presence and running captured another try in the second half, for the Roosters to lead 16-4, before Adrian Smith's intercept injected hope into the Boars camp for a big 15-minute finish to the game.
That came, even though Tom Ryan was in the sin-bin for the Boars.
The Roosters steadied and after Sam Taylor kicked a vital 40-20, with Jordan Sharpe slicing through to squeeze through a couple of tackles and roll over for a knockout try. Taylor converted and then kicked a late penalty.
"It was a tough game," Roosters coach Geoff Sharpe said. "We played good."
He was "very happy" with the Roosters' defence and was also delighted his side could repay Moree for a 32-8 beating at Moree.
Sharpe said Cochrane had his best game of the year. He also praised the efforts of lock and captain Ben Williams and Hartmann.
He also thought Marshall Field's effort was good.
Field - who play a full game in reserve grade - came on in first grade after 10 minutes when Ethan Parry went down with an ankle injury.
"It was a big effort from Marshall," Sharpe said.
The same was true for Moree wingers Adrian and Kaedyn Smith.
They played full games in second grade at Manilla in the side's 30-22 loss at the Manilla Showground and then rushed to Kootingal where they ran on for the Boars after Alex Lawrence and Silas Haines pulled out with injury.
The Boars were also missing young gun Mark Pegus, with Cameron Rodgers coming off the bench to start.
"They [Adrian and Kaedyn] were great for us," Boars captain-coach Ben Williams said.
Meanwhile, North Tamworth weathered a desperate Gunnedah Bulldogs start on an emotional Old Boys Day to grab a 36-22 win at Kitchener Park on Saturday.
The Bears were down 10-0 early in the match after a Bulldogs blitz as the home side went to the major break 16-12 up against one of their traditional rivals.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs they couldn't maintain the rage as the bears crossed early in the second half to lead 18-16 and then took control even though young lock Mark Simon was sin-binned for 10 minutes.
Bears hooker Ryan Ingram and prop Tom Woolaston spearheaded the victory, the two combining to open up the Bulldogs.
"When Mark came back from the sin-bin we opened them up through the middle," Bears coach Brad McManus said.
"It was a good win but we've still got a lot of work to do. I'm just happy we got the two points."
"It was a really good game too. They [Gunnedah] put on a good show for their Old Boys."
He thought Woolaston, Ingram and Josh Schmiedel were his best.
