GLADYS Berejiklian has confirmed the Greater Sydney lockdown and regional restrictions will continue for at least a week after there were 27 new locally acquired cases recorded in NSW overnight.

The state premier said the lockdown would extend for another week.
"This decision wasn't taken lightly," she said.
"We know the vaccine is the key to our freedom.
"The vaccine is the key to keeping our economy open. What would be far worse is being in a situation where you have to live in and out of lockdown."

Schools outside of the Greater Sydney region will resume face-to-face learning from next week.
Schools in Greater Sydney, including the Central Coast, will revert to online learning.
"What we really need to do in Greater Sydney is reduce their mobility," she said.
"Our main concern is too many people being mobile at the same time.
"For those parents doing essential work, children will be welcomed onto the school grounds.
"I also want to thank the regional communities for their patience.
"I appreciate that regional communities like the Central Coast... will be frustrated they have to do another week."
Ms Berejiklian said tomorrow's numbers "will be higher" than today's.
Dr Kerry Chant said only 13 of the 27 cases were in isolation during their infectious period.
"We are going to need to have the community come out in droves for testing," she said.
There are currently 37 COVID patients hospitalised. Seven are in intensive care - including a person in their 30s, and two are ventilated. Eight are under the age of 35.
