Dungowan deserved something out of the round-six game. They lost their first five games.
Narrabri club president Peter Doring thought it a wonderful game.
"We ended up scoring under the posts to win the game," he said of Nichols' try.
"We'd started slowly, too," he added, "and had picked it up to get back and make it 12-12.
"Dungowan also scored three tries to our two [but] didn't kick any goals."
Dungowan led 8-0 at half-time.
"We were poor in the first half," Narrabri captain-coach Jake Rumsby said. "Very flat.
"[I] can't put a finger on it but we were coming off two hard games against Kootingal and Gunnedah.
"The bye is coming at a good time for us."
