Tamworth what's on: Energetic and 'extreme' new show from The Great Moscow Cicrus in town from May 27 to June 6

The Great Moscow Circus has rolled into the city for the first time in eight years, and will put on an energetic new show called 'Extreme'.

Mark Edgley is part of the 50-strong crew and told the Leader the circus promises to deliver something for everyone.

"It's a show for all ages, from two-year-olds to 90-year-olds, we're getting all sorts of people come through," he said.

Visitors can expect death-defying feats when motorbikes take on the globe, amazement when the trapeze and trampoline artists do their tricks, a bit of laughter when the comedic clowns come out, and more.

The circus is used to spending 11 months of the year on the road, but COVID-19 threw them a curveball.

"We're back on the road after not being on the road for 10 months ... we did lose a couple of performers but we also picked up a couple of performers," Mr Edgley said.

He said a bunch of performers chose to hole up together at a property last year, and managed to hone their skills even further.

"They trained and they trained pretty hard," he said.

But they're most at home out on the road.

"At the end of the day it's all about the excitement and seeing people smiling," he said.

The circus is at the old athletics track from May 27 to June 6. Tickets are online.
