The women's coach fished out the boots from the back of the cupboard to turn out for the Swans for the first time in a couple years.
Club veteran Damien Wendt and president Josh McKenzie also pulled the boots on for the first time this year with the Swans who came away with a 25.21 (171) to 4.7 (31) over Moree-Narrabri.
Donohue had set himself the goal of winning a ruck contest and kicking a six-pointer in the match.
He did both with the goal causing an eruption of cheers from the Swans women who were watching from the sidelines after securing a win themselves.
"I enjoyed it. Loved it. I had my own cheer squad so that was pretty cool," Donohue said.
Swans skipper Adam Cruickshank continued his strong form with a best on performance for the Swans while Kaleb Crowhurst bagged eight goals and Justin Leehy six.
Callum Craigie kicked three goals for the joint venture as the Swans scored an 140-point win.
That victory came after his women's side scored a 9.10 (64) to 2.5 (17) win over the Moree Suns.

It was close at half-time with the Swans holding 17-point lead before the Tamworth outfit kicked away.
Stacey Layton led the way and was named the Swans' best while Erin Allan booted three majors.
For the Suns, Caitlin Sims was named best on for the Moree side.
Like the men, the women's side had a number of players out and Donohue was more than happy with how the Swans stepped up
"I definitely had the troops to do it [win] but they stuck it to us and they should be commended on how they played," Donohue said of the Moree women's team.
"Everyone got a good chance and played some good footy.
"When we cleared the ball into space and played our footy, they looked really good and it was clean. Everything was there, we just needed to make it more consistent."
The victory sees the Swans women sit outright third on the ladder while the Swans men sit atop their ladder, one win ahead of the New England Nomads and Tamworth Kangaroos.
