Eight Tamworth representative players have been chosen in NSW teams after impressing over the weekend.
Mitch Burrows, Matt Lobsey and Sean Donaldson were selected in the over 40s state side while Adam Bannister, James Haling, James Hindmarsh, David Nyman and David Rollings were all picked for the over 45s team.
The players were selected after turning out at the over 40s and over 45s Men's Masters State Championships in Tamworth.
It was no mean feat with Tamworth Hockey Association president Ross Briggs saying the tournament was "a very high level compared to previous years".
"It was a good quality of hockey and it was good to see a lot of teams make the trip to Tamworth for this event. We hope to see them again," he said.
On the organisational side of things, Briggs said everything went smoothly over the weekend.
"The weather was really great for us and I thought the running of the weekend was fantastic," Briggs said.
"The masters committee did a great job and NSW Hockey were great to work with.
"The volunteers from Tamworth Hockey that came out in their droves to help us with the canteen, the barbecue, the bar, the tech benches - they were fantastic and made the weekend work for us."
One comment Briggs heard often over the weekend was how good the facilities are at the Tamworth Hockey Complex.
Briggs hoped the complex could host more big tournaments next year.
"We will put our hand up for one of the junior state championships," he said.
"We'll still be doing our Kim Small Shield and Michael York Cup and we have found out we're doing the CHS NSW Hockey tournament as well next year."
