A year after being cancelled because of the pandemic, the Alan Tongue-organised Scripture Union Rugby League Camp is back for a fourth instalment at Farrer.

The three-day camp - which mixes rugby league with the scriptures - began on Wednesday with about 30 kids involved.

Former Raiders captain Tongue - who grew up on his family's Loomberah farm and went to Farrer, runs the camp with his mother, Janelle.
Held in conjunction with Scripture Union NSW, the event focuses on developing the rugby league skills of participants within a Christian environment.
Tongue - who played 220 games for the Raiders - said it was "very rewarding" to combine two of his great loves: rugby league and the Christian faith. He praised his mother for setting such a good Christian example for him throughout his life.
Janelle Tongue urged people to attend the camp this week to "spread the word" about its merits.
