Tamworth Regional Council shut Scully Park pool, as scheduled, in early April.
Council's manager of sport and recreation Paul Kelly said the summer swimming season saw more than 30,000 people float through the gates and dive in at both the Tamworth Olympic Pool and Scully Park pool.
But, he said those numbers were down by close to 20 per cent on the 2019 to 2020 season.

Scully pool opened in October last year, but the town pool opening was delayed until mid-December due to water rules and the need for an $80,000 revamp.
Council made a snap decision to close the Kable Avenue pool after just two-and-a-half months, at the end of February.
Scully stayed open for the rest of the season, which officially ended on April 1.
More than 4000 people went for a swim when both Tamworth pools were open in February.
Those numbers were cut by two thirds in March, when just 1350 people trickled into Scully pool.
"February is when many swimming carnivals are conducted, March is considerably lower due to less or no carnivals and the weather cooling off," Mr Kelly said.
The millions of litres of water held in both pools will be retained, and no "significant" works are scheduled for either facility.
