He loves the harder competition as he climbs through the ranks and also solving the problems to conquer different routes.
Fred got tough competition and difficult routes at the 2021 NSW Youth State Lead and Speed Titles on the weekend.

The 11-year-old won both the lead and speed categories in the Youth C division at the titles which were held at Climbfit Kirrawee and the Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym on the weekend.
"I'm pretty happy - not only being able to win state but being able to go to nationals again," he said.
The nationals are expected to be held in June but a date is still to be confirmed.
Fred is ranked number one in Australia across all categories at present and is looking forward to competing at nationals.
Not only for enjoyment but also to pick up tips from other competitors.
"It's really fun. You also get to see other people and what they do and learn from them as well," he said.
The NSW Boulder Titles is the other major event on the calendar to be held in early September.
Fred will join a large squad of Tamworth representatives at the event.
The St Nicholas student will be out to defend his title at the event - after winning his age group at the 2020 titles - and he's also keen to have a new set of routes to solve.
"[I enjoy] the strength of it, also the benefits it gives you and the problem solving," he said.
"People think it's just muscling through things but it's not."
