Its name is very formal, but the Draft Civic Functions Policy details just who receives the best welcome to Tamworth and what their event looks like.
Following the Tamworth Regional Council meeting on Tuesday night, councillors have voted to endorse the policy, and it will now go on display for 28 days so locals can have their say.
The policy outlines what council staff should do and how they should act when "dealing with dignitaries and VIPs". Everything from the budget and cultural customs, to 'thank you' letters after the fact is looked at when planning an event.

Council staff also can't forget to bring along the special pair of ceremonial scissors for ribbon-cutting events.
Giving gifts is also another important consideration. For example, the policy has listed that the suitability of a gift may depend on a person's cultural background and what the person has been gifted previously.
"For example, in some cultures sharp instruments are viewed as bad luck and the colour white is used in situations of mourning," the policy reads.
Locals can voice their opinions on the policy via the council's website.
