A Marius street housefire was caused by unattended cooking, after three crews were called out to the home after smoke poured from the home on Sunday.
Fire and Rescue NSW zone commander Superintendent Tom Cooper said the blaze did not cause any structural damage to the house - just "a lot of smoke damage" he said.
Damage was confined to the kitchen and the range hood, he said.
None of the inhabitants were injured by the fire, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson confirmed.
Two crews from the Tamworth South station and a third from the Tamworth station arrived to find flames and smoke pouring from the one-level house, after being called to the scene at about 11am.
